Potassium Permanganate (KMnO4) is a chemical oxidant used in soil and groundwater remediation to treat contaminants such as chlorinated solvents (TCE, PCE, etc.). The active oxidant is the permanganate anion (MnO4-), which is a strong oxidant which can persist and react with COCs several months after injections are complete. In Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO) using potassium permanganate is a proven and cost-effective treatment when used to treat DNAPL source zones or zones of high residual contamination. Permanganates are well-suited for many remediation applications as they do not require activation, are applicable over a wide pH range, and their presence is easy to detect in monitoring wells.
Compass offers delivery of both standardly packaged and custom blended solutions of potassium permanganate directly to your site, eliminating the need for on-site mixing and the health and safety concerns that go along with it. As mixing potassium permanganate on-site can be challenging, many choose to mix this chemical off-site.
